Measure the area of the basement you want framed first. Place a mark on the floor of the area where framing begins and then mark the other side. Place a line between the two markings.
2. Cut out your floor plates into 2 by 4 pieces of wood. After you have worked on the floor plates or boards, secure them on the floor by nailing the floor plates to the floor.
3. When you lay down the floor and ceiling plates, make sure you leave space for a door. A room needs a door, right? Make sure that your top plates match the bottom plates.
4. Raise your walls and then place the studs on the bottom plates. The walls need to be secured to the bottom plates, after doing so you need to plumb your walls and then secure them to the floor joints of your home.
